Insurance news

A large number of drivers in Montana have no insurance. Many more carry the minimum state liability limits discussed below. It is not hard to see that $25,000 will not be enough to cover medical bills, pain & suffering, loss of use, loss of wages etc. in the event of a severe injury. For that reason Underinsured Motorist Coverage can be very valuable coverage.

UNDERINSURED MOTORIST.....Pays for your bodily injury damages when an auto accident is caused by someone with insufficient liability insurance. The state minimum legal liability limit is $25,000 per person, $50,000 per accident (multiple injuries) and $10,000 property damage. These minimum limits are over 25 years old!

DID YOU KNOW.....Our office operates differently than most Insurance Agencies. We do not have any commissioned salespeople. Everyone is paid a salary rather than commission. We do this to make sure that your best interest always comes first rather than a paycheck. We are all Customer Service Representatives FIRST and then have additional duties.

Montana continues to have lots of uninsured motorist. It seems like every other injury accident we see is caused by someone without insurance! It makes me mad that we have to pay for this coverage when the other party is breaking the law by not having insurance. However, the coverage can really save the day when needed!

UNINSURED MOTORIST....Pays your Bodily Injury Damages when an accident is caused by a driver who does not have insurance. This includes medical bills, pain & suffering, loss of income and loss of use.

Did you know??? Most glass shops will charge an Insurance Company up to 3X the price they will quote you to replace a windshield. If you have a large Comprehensive deductible or no Comprehensive coverage make sure you let them know that the replacement is not an insurance claim. A $600 windhield can suddenly become $200.

Glass Coverage.....This is also part of your Comprehensive coverage. Most Insurance Companies will waive your deductible for a rock chip repair. However, if your windshield needs to be replaced, your deductible will apply.

Comprehensive Coverage....Pays for damage to your car other than collision or wear and tear. Examples are theft, hail, fire, wind, flood or vandalism. Hitting a deer or other animal is also covered under comprehensive coverage. The deductible works the same as the collision coverage explained yesterday.

It is important to choose a deductible within your comfort zone. The higher your deductible the lower the premium. However, you don't want to have a deductible higher than you can afford to pay in the event of an accident.

Collision... This coverage pays for damages to your vehicle caused by collision with another vehicle or object. The insurance company will pay for repairs up to the value of your car less your deductible. Deductibles range from $100 and can be as high as $5000.

Once the insurance company pays the full limits of your policy, you can be responsible for any damages above that amount. To protect your assets you might want to consider higher limits. Give us a call to find out what you current limits are and what is available.

Liability..This covers the other guy, and is the one coverage required by law. It pays for accidental bodily injury and property damages to others. Montana requires $25,000 per person, $50,000 per accident (multiple injuries) and $10,000 property damage (automobiles or other property).

Auto Insurance Made Easy

(NAPS)—Understanding insurance can often be like trying to learn a foreign language. Many find it confusing and intimidating.

Fortunately, we can help. Here is a quick reference designed to help you understand some of the most common kinds of coverages.

Liability covers bodily injury and property damage (BI/PD). This covers your legal liability, up to the dollar limits you select, for damages caused to others in a covered vehicle accident. In most states today, liability insurance is mandatory.

Under BI/PD, your insurance company pays for damages to an injured person and for property damage that you are legally obligated to pay as a result of an accident. If your policy covers you in the event you’re sued after an accident, your insurance company will pay for a lawyer to defend you.

Liability limits generally appear as three numbers, for example, 25/50/25 or 100/300/100. The first number refers to the maximum amount, in thousands, that your insurance company is obligated to pay for bodily injury per person. The second number is the maxi-mum that would be paid out for bodily injury per claim and the third number represents the maxi-mum amount your insurance company is obligated to pay for property damage you cause.

Collision. When you buy collision coverage, your insurance company pays for damages if your vehicle collides with another vehicle or object. Collision coverage involves a deductible amount you select when you purchase your policy. This amount is what you are required to pay before your insurance company starts picking up the tab. Remember, the deductible amount is the amount you need to pay in the event of a claim.

Comprehensive covers dam-age caused by events other than a car collision—such as fire, theft, vandalism, hail or flood. It also covers damage caused by your vehicle colliding with an animal. And if your car is stolen, it will cover the cost of a rental, subject to a daily limit. Like collision coverage, a deductible usually applies.

Medical Coverage. Depending on the state in which you live, you may have available to you Medical Payments coverage or Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage. While these both work differently, they provide coverage for medical care provided to you as a result of a car accident.

We can help you determine the price, coverage and service that best meets your needs.

Did you know, that Progressive Insurance advertises that they will compare rates with other major carriers for you? They will, but here is what they don't tell you. The rate they use to compare with, is their paid in full rate. That rate can go up 20% if you make payments. You might also ask them, what happens to the go direct discount at renewal. Yes, it goes away! We represent over 20 insurance carriers (including Progressive) and find the one who offers you the lowest premium for the coverage you want. We also consider which discounts stick and who has the best fit for the payment option that works for you. We work for you, not the Insurance Company

We represent over 20 of the best insurance companies. We shop them all or you. That gives your the edge when it comes to saving money on insurance!

Mike & Lori Bullus of Bozeman switched from GMAC insurance today and saved $800 a year!

Did you know that a Renters policy discount on your auto policy can save enough to pay for the renters policy! Often, the auto/renters package cost less than the auto by itself. Lowering your auto insurance rate while getting free protection for your personal property is like free insurance. Go figure!
